With extreme fire alerts continuing along the New Mexico and Colorado border I have decided to bypass this incredible section to the GDMBR(Map 5) and will head directly to Salida via Alamazo. Found a great place to rest today and stay for the night. This may well be a section to come back to when conditions are safer.
I am still cycling a similar distance but will miss some of the highest passes on this route. I am excited to get back to the mountains further north.
