Steamboat Springs – June 4

Toughest climb so far that had me in my first gear often crawling along slower than walking. Half day for 20 km….the other half for the 70 remaining. Stunning land and sky scapes kept me moving along.

Beauty on the road that keeps you climbing.
This was a brutal climb – but beautiful.
Bike only route into Steamboat Springs

  1. Looks incredibly “wild” – nature doing its thing all around you oblivious to the mess that we seem to be making from afar. The air must feel amazing and the stars at night too!

How often do you meet other intrepid travelers? On bikes, foot, or ????

    1. It is amazing to be outside for all of the day and then many nights(minus those where I sought the luxury of a motel). I have met 5 Through Hikers (Bkueberry, Sugar, SwissMonkey, Thunder and Polestar) and some cyclists. You can find out more about the through hiker subculture online. Cyclist Bruce was from Edinburgh and was touring the SW USA solo. He is 81.

      1. Yikes! 81. My 80th is this year and I can’t imagine doing what Bruce is doing, although it is inspiring to hear about.
