The ride out of the national park along the eastern bank of Lake Shikotsu was stunning. We left the lake on a long climb to the pass that then sent us down into Sapporo. A closed campground and sunset at 5 led us to look for a last minute hotel deal – and find one we did. Stayed at the Yuen Sapporo – a treat that included an awesome onsen and location in the heart of town.
