Kagoshima

An epic ride, similar to our first day on Kyushu, this time tea fields filled the air with sweet scents. A few off-road experiences tested our emotions with one 4 km section in particular that required walking over fallen logs, with multiple back and forths to carry bikes and gear over rough spots. Spider webs stuck to our faces as we passed a live baited trap which we assumed was for boar. Another climb followed with a day that was clearly going to end before our ride did. The downhill run after cresting brought our arrival to Kagoshima closer to sunset. We arrived at sunset on a coastal road that was a bit narrow for comfort. Our bike lights became an absolute necessity. With a smoking volcano to our left, a declining moon above, and impatient traffic behind us, we rolled into Kagoshima. A hotspring eased the thorn scratches.
