San Ysidro, CA

Early morning flight to San Diego into an atmospheric river that was dropping a season’s worth of rain from San Fransisco to Northern Baja.

Built the bike under an overhang just outside the baggage check area. The wind blew my sleeping pad into a passing traveller who unwittingly stopped it from disappearing. The ride south into the water laden wind was made all the more exciting by my softening rear tire that stubbornly would not take in air. After 10 km a bike rental shop offered me a pump that did the trick. As the rain picked up I noticed that I was riding beside a blue tram line with my destination on its tickertape headlight. $2.50 is all it took to roll my loaded wet kit into the tram for a dry rest of the way to the Valli Hi Motel. Got some great service

from Chris at Peninsula Bikes. Tomorrow, perhaps, Mexico.

All packed up ready for the 5:30 am airport run. Thank you sweetie!
