For many reasons Cabo was the wrong choice for me. Regardless, I was able to get a number of things done; work on school assignments, get a bike box, and generally get packed for the trip north. A major mistake was realising the day before, at online check-in, that the airport was in a different city. I should have ended my ride in San Jose des Cabos but had already booked my accommodation. Cabo San Lucas is a resort town that caters to expensive tours, dance parties on boats, and leans heavily on drinking culture. Beach frontage, while available with a long walk, is largely exclusive to resorts. Even the local beaches are accessed by most travellers using water taxis. They are long walks that are not the most scenic. The Sofia Hostel was relaxing and off the beaten path but still very close to the tourist center.
