A ladder into the rainforest welcomed us onto our first day of the West Coast Trail. After a few hours of up and down, the highpoint offered us a moment to rest before the descent to our first camp of the trip. A high tide kept us on wave watch at 2am, but we were camped just high enough to stay dry.
