Crossing the Gordon River the ladder ahead ascended steeply into the forest. Hours of hiking, up and down ladders and rooted slopes, past rusty steam engines, eventually led us to the small beach at Thrasher Cove. A high tide at 2:15 am kept us up watching waves licking at our ground sheet. Many others moved their tents into the forest but we managed to avoid that and slept soundly till 6am to get ready for a low tide walk to Owen Point!
