    Glad midsommar! A rainy morning greeted us after an evening with our norwiegan hosts in their caravan for grilled cheese, chips and beverages. A holiday weekend here finds most shops closed and provides us with a rest day to clean up and do routine maintenance on the bikes.

    A bistro only open on Wednesday nights ended our stellar ride with a gourmet burger and beer followed by an invitation to stay in a cabin by the river complete with sauna and conversation on a property covered with american cars.

    Cool and sunny rise out of Sirkka to Muonio through a section of Finland’s Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. After a KMarket dinner at their picnic tables, we crossed over into Sweden to make camp before the looming rains forecast for this evening.

    After a long 109 km day we ended Day 3 setting up tents in the rain. The campground, in Inari, was wonderful, giving us a chance to shower, wash some clothes, and eat pizza and kebab across the street. After a relaxing morning we continued southwest another 50 km towards Sweden along Kittiläntie Road. We

    Skirting rain showers we climbed into Finland finding an incredible campsite in a grove between the road and a lake.

  • Kirkenes, Norway (Day 1)

    Day 2 finds us doubling back to Kirkenes along the Russian border before heading south towards Finland. Circle K has provided us shelter from the rain which we will wait out. And then the rain stopped….for a bit, just enough time to find a campsite 15 km further down the road.

    Incredible ride today on mostly paved roads to get to the top of our European Divide ride at the Barents Sea where it meets both Norway and Russia. The sun will not set for us until we get to the Arctic Circle 600 km south of us.
