    Santiago

Very happy to be on the overnight bus with my bike to Puerto Varas. The flight to Santiago went well and Turbus was a brilliant way to get downtown. Enjoyed walking through the university grounds, to the Museum of Memory and Human Rights and back. I will unbox, build and ride a short distance tomorrow…

  • Patagonia

Getting the bike ready to follow the continental divide south of Santiago, Chile from Puerto Varas to Tiera del Fuego, Argentina in January 2023.

  • G2G

A quick 3 day trip from Toronto to Goderich and back with GO Train legs from Weston to Guelph and then Kitchener to Bloor. Ride along the G2G was a flat 140 km of gravel railtrail with a few short detours around missing bridges. Trip started at 8:30 am on Wednesday with a short ride…

  • Isadore Trail, Cranbrook – June 25

The early morning ride through the Kootenays ended with a 10km ride through the Isadore Canyon on the BC Trail, also known as the Trans Canada Trail. My trip ends here with a search for a bike box and then a taxi ride to the airport.

  • Baynes Lake, BC – June 24

A long but rewarding day from Whitefish, across the US/Canada border towards Cranbrook, BC. That is where this cycling adventure will end.

  • Whitefish Bike Retreat – June 23

The blue sky day again dominated the stage for a zig zag ride along the foothills of the Swan Range and the Flathead National Forest.

  • Swan Lake – June 22

A climb to start the day and then some time off route to get closer to the Canadian border. I hope to get close enough to cross at Roosville early in the day on Friday.

  • Ovando – June 21

Beautiful climbs with signs of wildlife everywhere. Rocky rough sections often transitioned into smooth, just moist enough, dirt roads. Slow ascents were followed by long fast descents. A day of ‘flow’ punctuated by signs and smells of grizzlies to keep me grounded.

  • Alpaca Ranch – June 19/20

The forecast rain did not start falling until 5 this afternoon….enough time for me to climb out of Helena to the sanctuary of this Alpaca Ranch! Will stay for a rest day too!

  • Helena – June 18

The Huckelberry shake with a late breakfast at the Basin Saloon hit the spot after a climb out of Butte. I again took advantage of the strong south wind and rode it north to Helena. I have gone off route today but felt the need to mend some sore joints. I want to be ready…

  • Butte, Montana – June 17

The Weather Advisory today about strong winds from the south helped me get to Butte in record time. There is a storm tracking this way for Sunday so I wanted to ensure that  I clear some of the high passes ahead on Saturday.  The ride today out of Bannack was incredible. A steady rise to…
