Helena – June 18

The Huckelberry shake with a late breakfast at the Basin Saloon hit the spot after a climb out of Butte. I again took advantage of the strong south wind and rode it north to Helena. I have gone off route today but felt the need to mend some sore joints. I want to be ready for the Helena to Roosville section that will take me to Canada.

  1. Your progress is relentless . Have explored some this area and covered some of these roads by auto. We traveled that road where you met the cattle drive , I have returned to Bute a few times. Love the old buildings and the mine shafts. Have always missed stopping in Helena. At your rate of travel you will be in Canada soon. Hope it stops snowing in Southern Alberta

    1. This trip has been one of sensory overload…..the landscapes change constantly with some repeating patterns. I ride without headphones and find that time flies. I do love moving through natural spaces.
