Laguna San Ignacio at Antonio’s EcoCamp

Left San Ignacio late in the morning to take in the square and Mission bells. The ride started with a climb and then long descent on pavement for 50 km. The final ride beside the salt flats was a sandy gravel road to where the laguna widens. It is in the deeper parts of this body of water that over 100 grey whales can be found. Antonio’s Eco Camp has lodging in cabins with a meal plan and whale watching package. Campers can order meals and participate in whale watching tours if there is space. An incredible site with fantastic staff. They were so welcoming and made everyone feel special. I ended up taking a rest day here in preparation for a long expected ride to San Juanico.

  1. Like the flat and downhill bits but doesn’t seem uphill is that extreme. Thank goodness for costs.
