The early morning ride through the Kootenays ended with a 10km ride through the Isadore Canyon on the BC Trail, also known as the Trans Canada Trail. My trip ends here with a search for a bike box and then a taxi ride to the airport.

A long but rewarding day from Whitefish, across the US/Canada border towards Cranbrook, BC. That is where this cycling adventure will end.

The blue sky day again dominated the stage for a zig zag ride along the foothills of the Swan Range and the Flathead National Forest.

A climb to start the day and then some time off route to get closer to the Canadian border. I hope to get close enough to cross at Roosville early in the day on Friday.

Beautiful climbs with signs of wildlife everywhere. Rocky rough sections often transitioned into smooth, just moist enough, dirt roads. Slow ascents were followed by long fast descents. A day of ‘flow’ punctuated by signs and smells of grizzlies to keep me grounded.

The forecast rain did not start falling until 5 this afternoon….enough time for me to climb out of Helena to the sanctuary of this Alpaca Ranch! Will stay for a rest day too!

The Huckelberry shake with a late breakfast at the Basin Saloon hit the spot after a climb out of Butte. I again took advantage of the strong south wind and rode it north to Helena. I have gone off route today but felt the need to mend some sore joints. I want to be ready…

Tour Divide racers continued to stream into town. Yesterday, the number 2 and 3 racers passed by in the Red Rock Valley. #1 must have passed by before I got up. Out of 200+ starters, about 20 have now gone by. These are the riders that sprinted from the start to avoid a major snow…

Started to see Tour Divide Racers today making their way south. Nice dry riding compared to what it would have been like a day ago.
