Los Antiguos, Argentina

Morning ride with some uphill but mostly stunning descents. Decided to turn left and head for Chico Chile for a noon ferry and planning for crossing back onto Chile via Paso Robales.

Coyhaique

Villa Ortega had some nice cement roads that end in all directions. The ride to Coyhaique was beautiful in spite of a dusty last hour in what seemed like a rush hour of traffic after having virtually none. I ended my day at a campsite by the riverside with a swim.

Villa Ortega
A steady 33 km incline on rough gravel provided great vistas as reward for the uphill grind up under a hot sun. So worth it!
-
Villa Mañihuales

Lovely morning ride with a few hills and plenty of downhill. Incredible mountain views with Condors gliding on the air currents high above the rock walls. Will be taking a 1/2 day rest here to catch up on my school work.
-
Puyuhuapi

Cool start to the morning meant that packs were lighter as all of my clothing was keeping me warm.
-
Villa Santa Lucia

Smooth ride out of Chaiten to lunch in El Amarillo, followed by a climb over the pass to Villa Santa Lucia. Very happy with 80 km after a ferry boat overnight. Rain turned to sunshine that burned off the clouds hiding the alpine glaciers.
-
Puerto Montt
A day of final prep errands like CO2 cartridges for tire repair which I hope not to use. Ferry to Chatien departs at 11 pm.
-
Puerto Varas

After setting up bike it was time to eat, explore and head south with a beautiful ride to Fentrepu Refugio. A great night of rest after the long but smooth trip south from Toronto.
-
Santiago

Very happy to be on the overnight bus with my bike to Puerto Varas. The flight to Santiago went well and Turbus was a brilliant way to get downtown. Enjoyed walking through the university grounds, to the Museum of Memory and Human Rights and back. I will unbox, build and ride a short distance tomorrow…
